There are many things to say about the American Eskimos breed but to summary the information. This breed has a white coat that may have some biscuit/ cream colored spots. This coat is in two layers the undercoat is thick especially around the neck and back of the hind legs. This generally looks like the males have a lion’s mane and boxer shorts on.
They also are bred in three different sizes: Toy been 9-12 inches/ approximately 6 to 10 pounds. Miniature been over 12 -15 inches/ approximately 10-20 pounds. Standard been over 15 up to 19 inches/ approximately 18-35 pounds.
From our experience this breed sheds his/ her coat twice a year. There is minimal shedding during the year otherwise. It should also be noted that they have an natural oil that helps to keep the coat clean. Also they do not cause allergic reactions like other dogs do. Their life expectancy is approximately 15 years or more.
Some thing to remember is that characteristics of a breed are only a general clue to any individual dog’s actual behaviour. A large part of any dog’s behaviour is based in their experiences in their living enviroment. Love brings unconditional love, other negative experiences will lead to negative behaviour of the dog.
